Honky Passes Away

Honky recently passed away, and the band will be dedicating all future Mixed Business performances to him. Deputy Rusty will play keys in his place.

Izzy Foreal

A Figment of Your Imagination.
Throughout the 1970s, Izzy was bassist with THE 69ERS. The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock has this to say about this band:

Formed in 1969 Style Rock & roll, jugband Original line-up: Francis Butler (guitar, vocals, harmonica, kazoo), Brian Bethall (bass, guitar, vocals), Keith Longman (drums, vocals) Albums: The 69ers Album (Du Monde/Festival, 1971), Francis Butler’s 69ers Live (Festival/Infinity, 1974), There is No Escape (Francis Butler solo, Rhema, 1978).
History
Sydney band The 69ers played a good-time mix of vintage rock’n'roll, jugband music and country-swing that placed them somewhere between The Panama Jug Band, Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen and Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. There were a number of other local bands playing a similar style at the same time, including Starving Wild Dogs, Original Battersea Heroes, Gutbucket Blues Band, Stovepipe Spasm Band and Moonshine Jug and String Band. Bologne

bologne.jpgBologne Zarsoff
Brand new drummer Bologne Zarsoff got his first live workout with the band at the Jamberoo Folk Festival series of gigs in September 2003. Bologne slotted in seamlessly with his cheeky attitude and cool drummer persona. Not to mention his outlandish reactions to Izzy’s upfront antics. Bologne is a well respected drummer around Wollongong and Sydney, and he has added just a hint of funk to the Zarsoffs music (yes, that is f.u.n.k.) The band has promised Bologne that he will be a legend by the time he is as old and wrinkly as the rest of them.

Bologne also plays in Wollongong band LICK. Make sure you check them out. Find out more about LICK at www.licktheband.com

Shaggy

Shaggy contributes guitar, mandolin, vocals and thingamebob (an instrument he built himself from discarded artistic and industrial materials) to the Zarsoff Bros show. Although he’s been a fan for years, he played his first Zarsoffs gig at the Argyle Street Hotel in Parramatta, during the Boys Are Back In Town tour. He played with award-winning band Trail Blazers and has become notorious as a busker on Sydney trains, always one step ahead of the fun police.
